Many thanks to collector Bob Gaines for going through the BookScans Database and picking out some fun cover themes. For example, the cover shown above is part of the "Strategically-Placed Flora" page, showing how paperback and pulp cover artists sometimes "kept it legal" by hiding sensitive parts of the human anatomy with conveniently-placed plant life. (By the way, you'll see a few magazine covers in that section, but I've limited the other pages to paperback covers only.) "Sideways Covers" are paperbacks with graphical layouts that are oriented horizontally instead of vertically.
