The year is examined by many individuals, and each discusses such subjects as fantasy, horror, science fiction, and related subjects. There is a nice section on non-fiction books of general reference, history & criticism, author studies, film & television, illustration, and magazines. Most of the book is taken up by lengthy reviews of fiction and non-fiction books of 1989. There is a good  index of titles that will help you locate things. This is the sort of book that you would find on a library shelf.
