edited by George Mann

Carroll & Graf Publishers, New York. 2001. Thick trade paperback. 612 pages. (5 X 7¾). Foreword by the editor. This has a history and origins of science fiction. There are long writeups on SF authors and their works. A section on motion pictures covers most of the films and shows on TV. Another section is devoted to the terms, themes and devices of Science Fiction. A section on societies and awards follows. An appendix by title and author comes next and an index finishes the book. Recommended for the long articles on the authors.
