The Issue at Hand
studies in contemporary magazine science fiction
by William Atheling, Jr.
edited and with an introduction by James Blish
Advent: Publishers, Chicago, IL. July 1967. Trade paperback. 136 pages. (5˝ X 8˝). Blish wrote a number of essays on magazine science fiction and wasn’t afraid to criticize poor construction and writing. Most of the items appeared under the pseudonym William Atheling, Jr. and in what were known as fanzines, or amateur publications. This makes a good companion volume to the book by Damon Knight.
