Horror:

A Connoisseur’s Guide to Literature and Film

by Leonard Wolf

Facts On File, New York. 1989. Trade paperback. 262 pages. (8½ X 11). Introduction by the author. Similar in appearance and scope as Jack Sullivan’s The Penguin Encyclopedia of Horror and the Supernatural. Wolf’s volume seems to be a more personal selection of what he likes rather than a group effort with other contributors. The entries are alphabetical and cover authors, books, short stories, and films. The author provides a short essay on each item with important bibliographical information. There are many photos of the subjects, especially for the films. The author provides a long bibliography of sources and an index.
