Ghastly Beyond Belief

by Neil Gaiman and Kim Newman

Arrow Books, London, England. 1985. Mass market paperback. 344 pages. (4 X 7). Introduction by Harry Harrison. Gaiman and Newman provide quotations, blurbs, and passages from stories, books, films, etc, to show some of the ridiculous writing that pops up in the field of science fiction and related categories. Some of the quotes are embarrassing, while the others are just plain funny. You may not agree with their selections, but it will get you thinking about the same kinds of writing in other fields like mysteries and westerns. Pronzini has done the same kind of book in the mystery field.
