Gryphon Books, Brooklyn, New York. Trade-sized paperback. 137pages. B&W illustrations throughout. A lot of information was crammed into this book. Lovisi gives a very brief history of the rise of sci fi/fan/horror during the vintage paperback days, then just as briefly identifies the major authors, cover artists, publishers, series, reference guides and finally the most collectible books themselves. While there are much more in-depth studies of the genre, I recommend the book as an important piece of reference for enthusiasts. It's informative and fun to read.
