The Art of Fiction Magazines

by Frank M. Robinson & Lawrence Davidson

Collectors Press, 1998. Oversized hard cover with dust jacket, 204 pages. Large book (11 ½ X 11), with full-color illustrations throughout. Unlike the Lesser book, this volume's illustrations are of the actual magazine covers in all of their outrageous splendor. The text concentrates on the writers, with short biographies of folks like Burroughs and L. Ron Hubbard, and the types of writing each of the major publishing houses catered to. Some GREAT cover art here, along with some interesting questions: Can an old magazine really be worth more than eight thousand bucks?
