The Classic Era of American Pulp Magazines

by Peter Haining

Chicago Review Press, 2000. Oversize Hardcover with Dust Jacket, 224 pages. Color and B&W illustrations throughout, many full-page. Very heavy on the Fantasy, Science Fiction and Weird Menace pulps, plus a lot of the sexier cover art, such as "Spicy," "Snappy," and  "Saucy" publications. The text is heavy on short outtakes from the magazines themselves plus some general history of the various genres and labels. It seems to principally cover the best of the most collectible issues.  It's impossible for anyone to flip through this book and not find something totally fascinating. A lot of fun.
