Heavy Traffic & High Culture

by Thomas L. Bonn

1989, Southern Illinois University Press. Hardcover, dust jacket. 240 pages. A few dozen B&W illustrations. In this history, Bonn explores the creation of New American Library using a lot of letters and memoranda from the main players at NAL. It's an interesting look behind the scenes of a massive industry forced into major changes. (In my database, look at the two copies of Penguin #659. The second one was printed when NAL was created and Penguin began a transition to Signet.)
