From the Pulps Into Paperbacks: A Reference Document

by Roy G. James

Gryphon Books, Brooklyn, NY, 1994. Tall digest sized paperback, 100 pages. B&W illustrations throughout.

This is a phenomenon that postdates the early vintage paperback days. Pulp magazine novels from the 1920's, 30's and 40's were reprinted in paperback format in the 1960's, 70's and 80's by several major paperback publishers.

After a brief introduction, James gives a short general history each pulp hero or topic, author, publisher, etc, and then lists each of the book reprints. Notations include book publisher and number, date of the book, and corresponding date and magazine in which the tale originally appeared.
