The introduction tells how Hammett and Raymond were given the assignment to write and draw Secret Agent X-9. After Hammett left the strip, Leslie Charteris, creator of The Saint, contributed a story. Charteris left and other artists and writers continued the strip. This collection of strips covers all sequences written by Hammett.
