Deadly Women

edited by Grape, James & Nehr

Carroll & Graf, 1998. Oversize paperback, 365 pages. B&W illustrations throughout. I mention this book in my Reference Section only because there's a great chapter on women mystery writers during the vintage paperback era. Otherwise, it mostly pertains to modern authors and the bold new visions that historically come from women writers. Some of the more provocative chapters deal with The Older Woman Sleuth, "Post Feminist Gothic," a Checklist of Lesbian Detectives, and "The Woman Who Wrote Pulps."
