With many cover illustrations from paperbacks, books, and pulp magazines. Films and TV are covered with lots of stills. Siegel has a nice chapter where you can read more about the private eye in fact and fiction. The author provides a listing of the Mystery Writers of America Edgar Allan Poe Awards. They cover from 1946 to 1993.
