A Primer of Book Collecting

by John T. Winterich & David A. Randall

Crown Publishers, New York. 3rd revised ed, 1966. Hardcover in dust jacket. Black boards with silver lettering on the spine. 228 pages. B&W illustrations. The book was originally penned in 1935, and so, as you might guess, its lessons and stories of conquest are a much outdated. The information on collecting tends to be specific rather than general. Unless you're interested in how to spot specific first editions by Theodore Dresser (as an example), its lessons may be lost on you. An interesting addition to your "Books on Books" collection, but otherwise of little value compared to more recent volumes.
