by Charles Rembar. Random House, New York, 1968. Hardcover in dust jacket. Gray cloth boards, black spine with gold lettering. Small Random House imprint on front cover. 528 pages. Rembar is the lawyer that tried these cases in district courts and eventually the U.S. Supreme Court. He uses court transcripts a great deal, but also a good bit of background observation and, of course, his own opinion. Let's face it, lawyers are in the business of swaying people's opinions, and he does so quite effectively. But, if you're not a strong advocate of First Amendment Rights, you probably wouldn't pick up the book to begin with.
