I have often wondered why the early Popular Library cover illustrations by Hoffman and the Jonathan Mystery illustrations by Salter had that "look" about them that made them so different from other early paperback covers. The answer: they were airbrushed.

This book discusses the technique and the major airbrush artists that used it in illustration. The most recognizable is probably Alberto Varga, but there are dozens of them discussed in these pages, their styles and the aspects of their art in general.

I found the book extremely interesting.
