Panther was established in 1952 by Hamilton's, Ltd, and quickly became a major publisher of paperback books. They were known as a source of science fiction works, but they produced other types fiction and non-fiction, as well. By the mid-60's, they had gotten caught up in the consolidation that was occurring in Great Britain, and they became an imprint of Granada Group. In 1983, they were acquired by William Collins, Sons & Co. Today, they are part of Harper Collins.
